The Frost Conducting Orchestra performs for the orchestral conducting program, under the direction of Gerard Schwarz and Scott Flavin. The conducting orchestra meets for two hours twice weekly. This affords the five graduate conducting students the opportunity to practice their craft and exposes the members of the orchestra to a broad and educationally rich repertoire. Generally, the strings of the ensemble come from the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra when the schedule permits. The woodwinds, brass, and percussion also come from the HMI in conjunction with assignments from their principal teachers. The repertoire is wide-ranging, from Bach and Handel to new music, generally from the traditional orchestral repertoire. The orchestra performs three concerts annually.
