Chamber music forms the backbone of string repertoire and the skills needed to perform it are important in all areas of string performance. Playing music with others requires skillful use of communication, collaboration, and compromise to inform our musical lives. The string chamber music program at the Frost School of Music allows students the opportunity to hone important areas of collaborative performance at the highest level. Students receive weekly coaching from our prestigious faculty, including the Bergonzi String Quartet. Student chamber music groups present mid-term and final performances on the concert stage. In addition, workshops and classes address prominent issues of the collaborative process. Masterclasses are regularly given by such artists as the Guarneri, Ying and Cavani String Quartets, and Roberto Diaz.
