The Frost Chamber Orchestra (FCO) at the Frost School of Music performs a broad mix of repertoire, from the great Classical masterpieces to cutting-edge contemporary and alternative compositions. The FCO consists primarily of graduate-level students and provides concert experiences at the highest level. Future plans include regional and national touring, as well as major-label recording. The Frost Chamber Orchestra performs for the Frost Opera Theater each spring under the direction of Music Director, Alan Johnson. Recent productions have included: The Light in the Piazza, Cendrillon, The Rake’s Progress, Dido and Aeneas, Suor Angelica, Die Zauberflöte, and Albert Herring. Scheduled for 2022, the opera department will present the world premiere of Michael Dellaira’s The Leopard with a libretto by J.D. McClatchy conducted by Gerard Schwarz and directed by Jeffrey Buchman. While half of the Frost Symphony Orchestra is performing for the opera theater the other half will be performing three Beethoven concerts including all of the piano concertos with soloist Santiago Rodriguez. The chamber orchestra will also perform the Mozart Requiem under the direction of Amanda Quist.
